The CPR-350 weather balloon is one of the most universal balloon coatings that we use to carry out stratospheric missions.
We usually use it to carry small loads and with less advanced experimental needs.
Weather balloons are used for atmospheric probing by the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM). For example, it is the vertical distribution of temperature, atmospheric pressure. They are used to determine the weather conditions for Poland.
We use the same type of balloons to carry out amateur stratospheric missions. Every year there are many student groups associated with scientific circles or simply informal groups, such as Copernicus Project organizes flights deep into the stratosphere.
The individual types of meteorological balloons are usually encoded in the name itself, which have their own weight, which determines their technical capabilities.
For your convenience, we have distinguished 3 groups of balloons:
1. small -> 100g, 200g, 350g
2. medium -> 500g/600g, 800g/875g, 1000g,
3. large -> 1200g, 1500g/1600g, 2000g, 3000g, 4000g

We use this data to prepare a flight strategy. On its basis, we can determine the required amount of gas and the possible weight of the capsule itself.
For example, when you choose the CPR-350 shell, you now know that it weighs 350g. In other words, 350 g should be added to the weight of the entire load of our mission. Additionally, we have to add the weight of the capsule with equipment, parachute and rigging. In conclusion, you should pay close attention to the importance of all elements that make up the so-called payload.
Balloons small They can be used for technical equipment tests, i.e. test flights or sending very light loads, e.g. the Vaisala RS41 radio probe.
Balloons medium are used to implement the first ambitious missions. The recommended weight of the load is about 250 g.
Balloons large are the ones that allow you to lift loads weighing more than 1000g.
This gives us the greatest opportunities to experiment.
